Mother’s Day. Check out “Moonrise: the Power of Women Leading from the Heart“. The best and possibly only hope for our planet is from the consciousness that arises from the women, the mothers.

Delusions of Gender

If you want to disabuse yourself of the notion of the ‘male’ and ‘female’ brains which qualify some for math and science (not to mention politics…) and others for domestic bliss read:

Delusions of Gender: How our Minds, Society, and Neurosexism Create Difference by Cordelia Fine.

It’s funny and very informative. A real help in the attempt to wake up from the cultural trance.

The idea that structures this book is that there are four distinct stages of relationship and since the Sun represents our Heart’s Desire we can use the astrological Sun to get a sense of how a person works their way through these stages.

Read This Book!

Eaarth by Bill McKibben It’s more than an ‘inconvenient truth’. it’s a rational look as the planet as it is at the moment. And then it’s an invitation to imagine how we might live here given how it actually is (not how it was or how we wish it was). You can also go here if you are action minded. There are things happening on 10/10/10

The Weiser Concise Guide to Practical Astrology by Priscilla Costello (edited by James Wasserman)
Priscilla is a Toronto based astrology with many years experience. This is one of the most readable and informative books on the basics that I have ever seen. It is a clear and accessible introduction to the essentials of modern astrology. She explores the meanings of planets, signs,
houses, and aspects in relation to archetypal psychology, religion/spirituality, and related esoteric subjects.  Both inspiring and practical (theory is applied to an extended delineation of Oprah’s chart in Part 2). It’s a good book for those new to astrology as well as a quick reference source for those who  have been at it for a while.

A Jungian Engagement with Chinese Culture and Psychology
by Shirley See Yan Ma
“a metaphor for the suffering of women and the repression of the feminine, as well as a symbol for hope, creativity and spiritual transformation.”

I haven’t read this book yet but i have been awaiting it’s appearance for a long time. I’m sure it will be interesting.
